VENEERS

Veneers Treatment in NYC

What are veneers?

Dental veneers are thin, wafer-like material placed over the front surface of a tooth to improve its appearance and protect it from damage. Some of the applications in dentistry are: ● Restoration of the fractured teeth - veneers are used to bring back the natural shape and structure of chipped or broken teeth.● Hiding Permanent Teeth Stains – these are excellent option to cover teeth stains when professional teeth whitening procedure don't work.● Closing Excessive Teeth Gaps – these are used to cover open spaces between the front teeth cosmetically.● Smile Makeover – if you think your smile needs some improvement, then you can achieve it faster through this treatment.
At Centre Dental, we offer 3 types of dental veneers: porcelain veneers, composite veneers and Lumineers. Each type has its own pros and cons, and the most popular type is the porcelain veneers. If you don't want anesthesia or tooth reductions, composite veneer can be your choice. If you want one visit and inexpensive option, composite veneer is for you. If you don't want tooth reduction, but desire long-lasting smile, Lumineers are the right choice. For most patients, if you desire to hide dark colors, misshapen teeth or restore broken teeth, porcelain veneer is the best choice. When you visit Centre Dental for consultation, Dr. Shi can help you choose the right type of veneers for your individual needs.

How does Dr. Shi apply porcelain veneers?

The entire process may take up to three visits to complete the veneer treatment.
The first visit is for consultation and examination. Dr. Shi will determine if veneers are right for you, and which type of veneers suit you better. Dr Shi will examine your teeth, gum, and bite. X-Rays may be required for this appointment.
When you come in for the second visit, anesthesia is required, and a thin layer of enamel of your teeth may be reduced for proper fitting of the veneers. Dr. Shi will then use a scanner to capture the 3-D structure of your teeth, gum and bite, and the data is transmitted to a lab to fabricate your custom veneers. At the end of the visit, a temporary veneer will be placed on your teeth.

After two weeks, you will return for the final appointment to install the veneers. Upon verifying the fit, the look and the color, Dr. Shi will cleanse your teeth, and permanently cement the new veneers into place. You are now the proud owner of the new smile.

How are Lumineers different from traditional veneers?

Lumineers are a great option for those looking to improve their smile without undergoing tooth reduction and anesthesia, and since they're translucent in color, matching is not required either. However, if you have bulky teeth, flared teeth or very dark colored teeth, Lumineers may not be the right choice for you. They're also robust, lasting up to20 years before needing replacement.
